Philly councilwoman alleges dognapping

This week's Philly Daily newsletter

Welcome back to Philly Daily’s weekly newsletter! John Tortorella said he did not want to coach a rebuilding team, so Danny Briere promptly accommodated him. The Flyers canned their ornery one-time “spiritual leader” yesterday after two-plus seasons. Brad Shaw will be interim head coach for the remainder of this lost season.

🐶 Philly councilwoman says her dog was stolen

Philadelphia City Councilwoman Kendra Brooks has called for the safe return of her dog after he was allegedly dognapped last weekend.

Brooks said Buzz, a five-year-old brown miniature poodle, escaped from her yard. A Good Samaritan corralled the pooch and was hoping to return it home, but Brooks said two women drove up in a silver Nissan Altima, claimed the dog and took it. Cops have video of the vehicle but cannot make out the license plate.

Brooks said she will not press charges if Buzz is returned safely. He was not wearing any identifying materials but he does have a microchip.
